The final days in Lafayette, California:

The view out of the window where I had studied for my exams and worked for so many days over the last year.

Fog over the hills tainted with smoke from the Californian fires.

The smoke from fires miles away drifts across the countryside, covering the hills in the mornings and afternoons, every so often, the smell just hangs in the air.

Birds and Squirrels attracted to the new bird feeder in Truckee.

Donner Lake in the evening of July 4th.

Smoke from the fires around, clearing but can still be seen in the distant haze.

Interesting fact - It takes about 1 hour to swim the length of Donner Lake. If you are fit . (It would take me about two days with the help of lifeguards...).

The evening was cooling off fast about 6,000 ft above sea level and the air resumes its clear smell and the crystal clear blue sky could be seen once again.

6000 people set to watch fireworks. Many had been there all day enjoying the lake and countryside. .

The breathtaking beauty of the area once again clearly can be seen.
What a place to live in.

The Drive to Reno on the 5th.
Clear of smoke, the sky deep blue and the Moutains crystal clear.

The promise clear air once again.

On arrival in Reno within a few hours the hills were starting to be covered with smoke once again blowing in from somewhere and just sitting in the valley.

Soon all the hills around were completely covered , you could not see any hills around and the air was thick with the smell of burning trees and grasslands.

Sunset on the 5th July and signs that the smoke is hanging in the air an indication of more smoke to come for the next day.

The smoke on the drive to Sacramento on the 6th July was thickand heavy in the air.

Health warnings were higher than the 'Red Status' as extermely dangerous to inhale.

The Mountains not only covered in smoke but hidden behind it.
