The Return Home - Cruise over and back to reality.
Final night and final walk around the ship, knowing that when we wake up in the morning it will all be over and we will be back in Galveston.

Even the buffet and Pizza area is now mostly deserted on the last night.
(OK it's past midnight but even so, the rest of the weekend it was full of plenty of other hugry and needy people at that time).

Reflecting on the weekend and the 18th birthday .
'I'm a man' you can almost hear him thinking..!!
..,and probably wondering how quickly I can drive home once we get off the ship, so that he can have his new laptop...

Neon light overload is something I'm not sure I will miss but it does create a certain atmosphere......
...maybe a bit like living in a Vegas Casino or
TV Game show catch phrases come to mind I think ?
...."is that your final answer ?" or " you are the weakest link ....goodbye!"
...and so to bed and as I close my eyes I see images like this photo below, emblazoned on the inside of my eyelids..... even today some weeks later....
Some people dream in black and white others subtle colours,. After this vacation I dream in neon.....
I think this is me dreaming about walking in the countryside with the gentle trickle of water flowing in a stream nearby, sponsored by Carnival...
Thinking about it,isn't Ecstacy a mind enhancing drug?
OK enough....
Back in Galveston...

If first impressions count, you might just write off Galveston and, you may well ask yourself , why Houston.

Well Galveston does have its Historic and pretty areas. (See earlier blog entries) and Houston does have its good points and places of interest.
You'll never going to stand on the top of a beautiful Cliff top watching the sea below on the rugged rocks, or even see a clear blue sea , or see the bottom of the sea , not even if your standing in the sand in ankle high sea water looking for your feet. Trust me they are there.
You'll never be standing on a hill or snow capped Mountain top, surveying the beauty of the countryside below, but as hot and flat as the Houston area is, it does have its good points and there is beauty to be found if you look beyond the Oil Refineries, Freeways, Strip Malls, Cookie Cutter houses, in the copious sprawling suburbs.

For now, I call Houston Home.......
