San Antonio Missions:

Tim and I went away for the weekend. The Purpose was for Tim's Tennis Tournament. He got knocked out 3rd match in Saturday so Sunday we went to visit two of the Missions just South of the City.
The most famous Mission is of course The Alamo in the center of San Antonio city. These other Missions in many ways were more impressive.

Mission San Jose. was extremely impressive.

Architecturally very Spanish and European. Stone Masons from Europe were brought across to design and build the Missions.

We caught the end of a service. Lively music provided by the resident Mariachi band.

The walled Mission enabled you to see how everyone lived.

The Missionaries re routed water from the San Antonio river, through a complex series of dams and canals to irrigate their fields.
They did such a good job at building them, the canals still operate.

Mission Conception

I was surprised how well maintained the insides were. They are still working Churches.
