Jonathan at a Private Rifle Club Houston:
The opportunity to shoot at a Private Club with an M16, a Rifle. Jonathan will become more than familiar with one of these, over his 13 weeks at Boot Camp with the Marines when he heads off their at the end of July.

There will no training like Jon will get in the Marines but coming from the UK where we just don't have firearms means that a little basic understanding was necessary.
Aim the pointy bit at the target over there and fire....!
In fact Jon received a lot of good information about firearms from Glen who makes Custom Rifles.

I wasn't such a bad shot either

So we are hitting the targets and at a distance of 100 yards. When in the Marines he will have to shoot and hit targets at 300 yards

Last time I shot anything was in Wisconsin aiming at Clay Pidgeons, I was average at hitting a moving target. Static target shooting with an M16 and I was scarily more accurate.

Jon will go through 13 weeks of Marine Boot Camp, which will involve a couple of weeks of Rifle shooting skills. Every Marine has to be a Marksman.
Jon had a little insight int how a such a Rifle feels and handles.

It was a wonderful opportunity that was provided to Jonathan and I, and a big thanks to all who organized the tiem at the Club and obtained and provided the M16 Rifle and Ammo.
